This picture was a Christmas present for mi madre. It is of edith paif, the famous french singer from the 40's. Born in Paris in 1915, Piaf was left at a Brothel by her mother until the age of ten (after being blind from a corneal infection for over a year) where her father, a street acrobat, picked her up and traveled country in a circus. She then became a street performer in her teens and made most of her living by singing for tips. She was discovered by a club owner and became one of the most famous french singers in the 20's and 30's. Piaf is known as the "daughter of Paris".
